Shri Atul Bhatt

Chairman and Managing Director

Shri Atul Bhatt took charge as Chairman and Managing Director of MECON Limited on 01.10.2016. Shri Bhatt is a Chemical Engineer from IIT, Delhi (1986) and a Post Graduate in Management from IIM, Calcutta (1989). Prior to joining MECON he was Executive Director (Business Development and Corporate Planning) in NMDC and was instrumental in formulation of Strategic Management Plan 2025 for the Company and was responsible for all mergers & acquisition activities of the Company. Shri Bhatt has also served in Arcelor Mittal as General Manager (Mergers & Acquisition) based in London, UK and as Country Manager (Iran) based in Tehran, Iran. Shri Bhatt has also worked in Tata Steel for a number of years, where he started his career as a Graduate Trainee in 1986.

Shri Salil Kumar

Director (Projects)

Shri Salil Kumar has joined as Director (Projects) of MECON Limited. An Electrical engineering graduate from MNREC (MNNIT), Allahabad in the year 1983. He started his career with M/s HINDALCO, Renukut in the same year. Thereafter in the year 1987, he joined Engineering Projects (India) Limited and had played integral role in the implementation of various projects. Shri Kumar has rich and varied experience spanning over more than 34 years in Project Management, Planning & Project Execution on turnkey basis, Cost Estimation, Tendering, Business Development and Contract Management for multi-disciplinary Projects in the field of Infrastructure Steel, Power and Process Plants.

Shri Rajendra Harbhagwan Singh Juneja

Director (Finance)

Shri Rajendra Harbhagwan Singh Juneja, a Cost Accountant and a Post-Graduate from IIT Kharagpur in Metallurgical Engineering, has joined as the Director(Finance) of MECON Limited on 20/04/2018. He started his career with the company in 1986 as Management Trainee (Technical) and during his professional experience of more than 31 years, he has worked in the areas of Contracts, Marketing, Management Advisory etc and has been heading the Finance department for more than 5 years at Ranchi, specializing in all activities of Corporate Finance Department.  

Shri Sanjay Kumar Verma

Director (Commercial)

Shri Sanjay Kumar Verma, did his B.Sc (Mechanical Engineer) in 1988 from BIT Sindri, holding extensive knowledge and experience in the field of Blast Furnaces. He played an instrumental role in successful running of more than 19 Blast Furnaces. Shri Verma has been spearheading his campaign to bring the Indian Blast Furnaces as par with global standards and even excelling over them.

Apart from being a true technologist, he also holds experience in marketing activities. Under his leadership, MECON has successfully galvanized the business development, marketing and contracting activities resulted in Substantial Business procurement growth and signing of number of MoUs with strategic partners.

Shri Verma has also enriched the engineering and academic fraternity by his numerous publications published over a range of journals and seminar compendiums. Shri. Verma is a recipient of many accolades from the Industry including Award of excellence from Indian Institute of Metals and “Bharat Ratna Sir Mokshagundam Visvesvaraya Life time Achievement Award ” from IE(I).

Shri Arun Kumar Agrawal

Director(Technical)

Shri Arun Kumar Agrawal has taken over as the Director(Technical) of MECON on 01st June 2020.

Born on 2nd May 1963, Shri Agrawal, a 1985 metallurgical engineering graduate from Institute of Technology, Benaras Hindu University (IT-BHU), now IIT-BHU, Varanasi, joined MECON Limited in the year 1986 as Management Trainee (Technical) after one year stint in Aditya Birla Group Hindustan Aluminium Co. (Hindalco) at Renukoot.

He joined in the Iron Making Division of MECON and has been deeply involved in basic engineering & design, detail engineering, consultancy and project management and site services of various Iron Making Projects particularly DR (Direct reduction) projects – both coal and gas based. In Blast Furnace area, he was the co-ordinator for NMDC BF in Nagarnar and 1.2 Mtpa BF Complex of PTKS, Indonesia. He was involved in engineering of no. of coal & gas based DR projects, most prominent being world’s first syngas based DR plant in Angul for JSPL.

He has nearly 34 years of varied and rich experiences in Iron & Steel technology, conceptualisation of project along the entire value chain and development of process flow sheets, making and guiding preparation of multitudes of reports, etc. Besides he has been rendering expert services to Ministry of Steel (MoS) by being part of several committees, policy and norms formulation and their subsequent regulation as well as handling of diverse technical queries. In the process he has immensely contributed to the development and growth of Indian Steel Industry.

Shri Agrawal has exposure in all business verticals ofMECON Limited, both technical & commercial. Besides ferrous areas, he also has exposure to non-ferrous area covering aluminium industry. He has displayed strategic insight and business acumen for future business opportunities and has constantly explored possibility of strategic tie-ups with companies for enhancing company’s business prospects. 

Smt. Rasika Chaube

Director MECON & Additional Secretary, Government of India

Ms. Rasika Chaube, an Officer of the Indian Defence Accounts Service (IDAS: 86) is a Post Graduate in Psychology and M.Phil from Annamalai University.
During her vast and rich experience in the Civil Services, she has held several positions of importance which includes  Joint Secretary & Financial Advisor to the President Secretariat, with 2 Hon'ble Presidents of India and Principal Integrated Financial Advisor to the Indian Air Force where her office was awarded the Raksha Mantri Award for Excellence- 2017. During her stint in Rashtrapati Bhawan she has worked in the areas of Culture, Women Empowerment, Agriculture and Environment.
She has authored three books & has keen interest in Arts and  Culture.

Shri Shashank Priya

Director MECON & Financial Advisor, Addl. Charge Ministry of Steel, Government of India

Shri Shashank Priya is a civil servant belonging to 1988 batch of the Indian Revenue Service (Customs and GST). He is presently working as Additional Secretary and Financial Advisor in Ministry of Commerce & Industry with additional charge of Ministries of Heavy Industries & Public Enterprises, MSME, Textiles and Steel.

He has more than 30 years of experience of dealing with issues relating to indirect tax and WTO. He has worked on GST issues in various capacities like Joint Secretary, GST Council, Additional Director General (GST) and Commissioner, GST.

He has a decade of experience of working on WTO issues. He worked for five years as a Professor in the Centre for WTO Studies in the Indian Institute of Foreign Trade and dealt extensively with issues relating to WTO and Trade Facilitation. He also worked for 5 years in the Trade Policy Division of the Department of Commerce as Deputy Secretary/Director. He has represented India in negotiations in WTO Ministerial Conferences in Cancun, Geneva and Hong Kong as well as in numerous WTO Committee Meetings.

He has also worked in different field formations of Customs and Central Excise such as Central Excise Division, Anti-Smuggling, Appraising, Vigilance and Export Promotion.

He has acted as resource person for several reputed institutions and made numerous presentations on GST and WTO issues before national and international audience in India and Abroad. He was the Academic Coordinator for long term WTO Regional Trade Policy Course for Asia Pacific Countries organized by the Centre for WTO Studies in collaboration with WTO, Geneva in 2011 and 2012.

He has contributed articles on WTO issues in newspapers/journals and has written two books, namely ‘Review of Trade Policies of India’s Major Trading Partners’ and ‘Trade Facilitation Gap Analysis for Border Clearance Procedures in India’. He also wrote a paper for UN ESCAP, Bangkok on ‘Cross-Border Paperless Trade’.

He also holds the position of Part-time Official Director on the Boards of the State Trading Corporation of India Limited, BHEL, MMTC Limited, India International Convention & Exhibition Centre Limited, India Trade Promotion Organization, HMT Limited, Invest India and National Jute Manufacturers Corporation Ltd. He is also Chairman/member of the Audit Committees of the State Trading Corporation of India Limited, India Trade Promotion Organization and MMTC Limited.

Shri Deepak Krishan

Director - MECON

Shri Deepak Krishan, belonging to Indian Railways Service of Engineers, brings with him a rich bag of Work Experience, Educational Qualifications, Travel and Training Experience. Being a Graduate in Master of Sciences in Structural Engineering from Punjab University, he joined Indian Railways in 1974 on Northern Railway. Subsequently having worked in various positions from Assistant Engineer upwards through Senior Civil Engineer, Chief Engineer, Chief Administrative Office (Construction), Additional Member Railway Board and finally retired as General Manager Southern Railways in 2012 from Chennai. Education qualifications consist of Graduating in BSc (Civil Engineering), Master of Sciences in Structural Engineering from Punjab University Chandigarh and from one of the oldest renowned Punjab Engineering College,Chandigarh. Subsequently also attained a MPhil from Punjab University in Social Sciences. Also attended a session with the Stern School of Business Management from the New York University, New York as one of the High Potential Managers of Indian Railways. During his 38 years of Tenure with the Indian Railways, he had very rich experience of various Developmental projects of the Indian Railways, including New Lines, Double-Triple lines, New Terminal Station Buildings, Very Large and Important Bridges etc. On the operations side his contribution was towards Train Running Organisations where the heaviest Traffic of Indian Railways Existed and created major improvements there also. The Safety records of the railways in the Jurisdiction were extraordinary as well as the financial results were improved multifold.

Smt. Manju Chandra

Director MECON

Mrs. Manju Chandra being a graduate in Arts is a successful entrepreneur having experience of more than three decades, currently running a firm named M/s Manju Chandra. She is also a social worker and is a politically exposed person. Before her appointment as Independent Director of MECON, she, during her illustrious carrier of more than 30 years as an entrepreneur, was also the Member of the Consumer Court and Labour Court. She was also the Vice Chairperson of the National Commission for Safai Karmachari, Ministry of Social Justice & Empowerment.
